Capacity - Production - Export
Over 6.000.000 vacuum cleaners, 35.000.000 motors, pump and compressors have been produced until today.
Vacuum Cleaner and Motor Plant has a capacity of 1.000.000/year vacuum cleaners, 3.000.000/year motors and 2.500.000/year pumps.

35.000 vacuum cleaners were exported to one of leading vacuum cleaner manufacturers in England and still dispatching. Also 2.000.000 hermetic compressors were exported to the world's leading compressor manufacturers.

Product development technologies

The technologies that are used to improve existing products and manufacturing process are provided mostly from internal departments, some from Arçelik R&D department and foreign sources.

CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools are commonly being used while the product development design process. Internet, e-mail, intranet options are developed due to the importance of the information technologies. Fast prototype making(stereolithography, laser cutting etc.) is being carried out through our central departments. Also, we use the benefits of our sub-suppliers opportunities and technologies.

Vacuum Cleaners
The exterior appearence of the product is designed by the Industrial Design Department among the product definition, which is a union of customer wishes and needs, quality, reliability, security, performance, stability, aesthetic, fitting standarts, enviromental affects, easy using and long life, with new ideas and technologies. The product is designed with CAD software that enables multi-tasking engineering and fast prototype making.

The product and its components are tested with equipments which are suitable with international standards (IEC, CE etc.) using home appliances simulation in the product development laboratories. Acoustical vibrations and CFD related studies are completed by R&D in international standards.

The existing vacuum cleaners which are improved by the product development period, are also being worked to improve their quality wnd performance for fullfilling the customers expactations.

Motors
Four critical disciplines have a high importance in the Product Development Management and have
a big share in the investments. These are : Magnetism, acoustics and vibrations, motors and control, applied mechanics.
Project based, experienced and powerful product development substructure is formed by cooperation with local and foreign universities, research companies and sub-supplier industry relationships.

New Products

Orbital Series Vacuum Cleaners
The Orbital Series Vacuum Cleaner feel dust with its dust sensors and contols the suction power electronically. The product has a high suction power and a low sound level. It also senses the dust bag load and warns user by optical and vocal warnings.

Easy using is provided with easily adjustable one-touch telescobic pipe, accessories and suction power buttons placed on the hose.

A combination of "Fine Dust Filter" type filters provide minimum dust emission with a 6 stage filtration system.

Direct Drive Motors

The Orbital SeriesWashing Machines, winner of 1997 Technology Award, use direct drive motors. These are the first ones that use direct drive technology in front load washing machines instead of convensional belt-pulley mechanism electrical motors.
Direct drive motors, which are fully designed by Arçelik engineers are being manufactured at Arçelik assemblies.
In the conventional motors, only rotation angles and start/stop timings are contollable. The new direct drive motors also provide control of the roll angle that allows every movement for ideal washing process. The roll is rotated by the electrical motor, placed under the boiler, using belt-pulley mechanism. The direct drive motor shaft is directly connected to the roll.
The direct drive motor rotates 10 times less than the conventional machines because of not using the belt-pulley mechanism that reduces the number of rotations of the motor shaft. For this reason number of components and coupling elements are reduced and motor life is extended.

Benefits To The Sub-Suppliers, Society And Local Ecomomy

10.000 units of vacuum cleaners and motor components are provided from local and foreign sub-suppliers. By sharing the Arçelik's Quality Culture, our sub-suppliers have been approved for ISO 9001 quality system and they apply total quality applications such as in time manufacturing, KANBAN, joining the design process. Society activities are being planned along economical, social and enviromental responsibilities. A total of 640 jobs, 540 by Arçelik A.Ş. Vacuum Cleaner and Motor Plant and 100 by our sub-suppliers, are provided.

Human Resources
There are 533 employees working at the Vacuum Cleaner and Motor Plant, consist of 87 engineers and 446 workers, at the end of July 2002. More than 80% of workers have at least high school graduation.
Our workers are educated over 25 hours/year and engineers are educated over 40 hours/year.
