Türk Elektrik Endüstrisi A.Ş. (TEE), the leading electric motor and compressor producer experienced continuous growth since 1965 and merged in to ARÇELİK on Dec31, 1999. Today, Component Division of ARÇELİK formed by TEE continues delivering reliable products and support to its worldwide customers. The foundation of Arçelik Component Plants (TEE) goes back to 1965. Being founded under the name of Türk General Elektrik Endüstrisi A.Ş. by GE and Arcelik, company took over the shares of the foreign partner in 1979 and went on producing refrigerator compressors, washing machine motors and general-purpose motors as TEE. The Company enlarged its production range as follows; from 1984 on vacuum cleaner motors, from 1986 on washing and drain pump motors for fully automatic washing machines, from 1993 on dishwasher motors and new type vacuum cleaner motors and from 1994 on synchronized pump motors. In the meantime, the Company continued to enlarge by getting Sultançiftliği Multipurpose Motor Plant in 1989 and Eskişehir Compressor Plant in 1992. Between the years 1992 and 1999, it produced motors and pumps for
electrical home appliances in İstanbul-Topkapı Motor-Pump Plant,
industrial pumps in the General Motor Plant in Sultançiftliği and
cooling compressors in the Compressor Plant in Eskişehir. General Motor Plant in Sultançiftliği-İstanbul, Vacuum Cleaner and Motor Plant in Çerkezköy-Tekirdağ, Compressor Plant in Eskişehir. In all Arçelik Component Plants, the principle of "Adaptation to the Technological Developments" is accepted. The most important thing in all production units is productivity and quality. The production capacities have continuously been enlarged and the plants became worldly known factories. From its foundation on, Arçelik Component Plants not only supplied Turkey's needs but enlarged its production capacity considering foreign countries as well. The number of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, Arçelik is exporting to around 40. Arçelik Component Plants exported more than 3 million hermetical and general purposes motors and over 9 million compressors until today and they are still functional all over the world. In Arçelik Component Plants, products are designed meticulously and improved by computer-controlled systems. And the result is excellence in production. Production is at the international standards. All the component plants have ISO 9001 certificate, defining Quality Assurance and Production processes since 1993. All the Component Plants have the team and field system, process oriented management philosophy, ever-evolving 'Total Quality Management' understanding. Along with the total Productive Maintenance and 6 Sigma Methodologies projects such as reducing the costs, improving the quality and process are continuous. National and international awards earned by the plants in various branches are the proofs of its standards. In Turkey, "TÜSİAD-Kalder Quality Award", two consecutive years. "The Finalist of Technology Award" delivered by TÜBİTAK, Technology Development Foundation in Turkey, and TÜSİAD. "Employees' Professional Development Award" delivered by the Electrical and Electronic Engineers Institute of the U.S.A. "Environmental Quality Award" delivered by the American Quality Association. Arçelik Component Plants operate with a certain environmental consciousness at every stage of production. Thus, Motor-Pump Plant won "Environmental Incentive Award of İstanbul Chamber of Industry" in 1997 and Eskişehir Compressor Plant won "Environmental Grand Award of İstanbul Chamber of Industry" in 1998.
Arcelik was established in 1955 and entered the Turkish Appliances Sector by producing its first washing machine in 1959 and its first refrigerator in 1960. In the 1970's and 80's, the company rapidly expanded its product line opening the following plants: 1975, the Eskisehir Refrigerator Plant; 1979 the Izmir Vacuum Cleaner Plant; 1993, the Ankara Dishwasher Plant. TEE having 3 motor and compressor plants merged in to Arcelik in December 1999. Arçelik, with its 5,000 dealers, 900 authorized services, 9000 and over employees fully developed humanity and corporate values, is ranked the highest for its rate of company awareness. In 2002 international sales have covered more than 80 countries, and with a 146% increase, have reached Euro 725 million. International sales of refrigerators have surpassed one million units for the first time while the numbers of washing machines and dishwashers have almost doubled.
